Art & Culture / Craig and Karl

C&K split portrait

Specialising in illustration and art direction; Craig Redman and Karl Maier live in different parts of the world (New York and London respectively) but collaborate daily to create bold work that is filled with simple messages executed in a thoughtful and often humorous way.

Between them they have exhibited across the world, most notably at the Musée de la Publicité, Louvre, as well as multiple exhibitions at colette, Paris. They have worked on projects with LVMH covering the opening of the Louis Vuitton Bond St store and they were recently commissioned by New York Magazine to produce the iconic cover for Barack Obama’s historic second term victory.

They have also recently produced multi-storey artwork for Manchester United at Old Trafford, a major exhibition in Hong Kong celebrating department store I.T Hysan’s first anniversary celebrations, an immersive environment inside the award winning 72DP parking garage, and a sculpture of film director Michelangelo Antonioni, installed in the Castle Estense Ferrara, the city of Antonioni’s birth.

In 2013 the pair will be creating some of their most exciting commissions to date. As well as continuing their collaboration with womenswear label Antipodium, the pair have been engaged by Nike for a series which will depict the brands top sports personalities, create bespoke glassware for Coca-Cola and they will become the first artists to produce two concurrent programmes and art work for Bayerische Staatsoper (Bavarian State Opera) in Munich.

Both regularly contribute to The New York Times and have on-going projects with colette and Opening Ceremony.
