Fashion / CR Fashion Book

Launched in 2012, CR Fashion Book is the fashion brainchild of Carine Roitfeld. Since exiting French Vogue in January 2011, Roitfeld has kept herself in fashion’s spotlight via a range of projects, and CR is her latest – it is her something new, something different.

Scrawled across the matte cover of the biannual fashion book are Carine’s handwritten initials: CR.  Each issue celebrates fashion through themes. Now on its 4th installment, CR has chosen the theme of “fairy tales” – each spread a modern take on classic children’s stories, reminding us that fashion can be seen through any lens. (That the particular “lenses” belong to Bruce Weber, Karl Lagerfeld and Sebastian Faena, to name a few, certainly adds to the stunning imagery on each page.)

The magazine also serves to champion new talent – from Kate Upton to Gigi Hadid, CR is not afraid to take risks.

Known for producing provocative and sometimes sexually charged imagery, Roitfeld personally styles most shoots in each issue, and continues to find new ways to be irreverent after some 30 years in the business. Carine sums it up perfectly – “not necessarily safer, but different. It will always be edgy.”
