Fashion / Miharayasuhiro
Japanese fashion designer Mihara Yasuhiro first made his name in footwear, creating his first line of shoes in 1994 whilst still attending Tama Art University, Tokyo. Praised for the innovative, modernist style of design, Mihara soon translated his vision into his 1997 shoe label “Miharayasuhiro”.
Mihara’ eponymous menswear label was launched internationally in 2004 and first SS05 men’s collection was presented in Milan to great acclaim. After showing in Milan for four seasons, Mihara decided to present his men’s collection in Paris.
Mihara presented his first SS10 womenswear collection in 2009 in his native Tokyo which was very quickly picked up by London’s Browns. Mihara has continued to showcase recent collections in Paris, most noticeably at Paris’ iconic Musée du Louvre, where the collection was presented alongside a short film entitled ‘Ophelia Has a Dream’. Created by Mihara and photographed by Paolo Roversi, the film was exhibited at the Tate in London.
For SS17, Mihara presented his collection in London for the first time.
